Shame on the Philippine Government, lackeys of the United States. Surface Chantal!

Chantal Anicoche, a Filipino American and beloved community leader from Baltimore, Maryland, who was in the Philippines learning and helping conduct environmental disaster relief work in rural communities, has been missing since New Year’s Day 2026, when Abra de Ilog, Mindoro, the area she was in, was attacked by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). Using US-gifted helicopters, the AFP bombed and machine-gunned the village for hours, killing 3 children, at least 2 student researchers, and forcibly displacing nearly 200 families from the area. Fearing international condemnation, the AFP is now blocking loved ones and fact finding missions from entering the area to search for Chantal and determine the truth of what happened. 

The DC Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression joins our Filipino comrades and all enemies of US imperialism in vehemently denouncing these cowardly attacks and demanding the immediate surfacing of Chantal. We commit to doing everything in our collective power to expose the Philippine government, starting right here in DC at the Philippine Embassy to surface Chantal and hold them accountable for their endless crimes against the Filipino people as loyal puppets of the United States.

All Black, brown and working people who struggle against police crimes and political repression here in the United States can see exactly how tightly our struggles are bound up with other people around the world. If the recent invasion of Venezuela for oil shows us page one of the US imperialist playbook, then the US-installed puppet government of the Philippines shows us page two, and the use of militarized police forces in every working class and Black and brown community in the United States shows us page 3 of a rotten playbook of US world domination that we must collectively incinerate along with the whole bookshelf. Building a new world begins with consistently defending ALL our people against all attacks by our shared enemies like US Imperialism and the Philippine government. 

So join us in demanding: Surface Chantal! Stop the Bombings, Killings and Attacks! End US-Backed US violations of human rights! End de facto martial law in the Philippines!
